Hm...I may have created a monster. Let me explain.
I try to take lots of photos. Mostly they are of random stuff, usually trying to catch something or someone in the midst of doing something without my direction. But then there are times when my child is doing something completely uninteresting: picking his nose, or digging in the back of his pants (let's not discuss that last one). These are the times when, if I'm in the mood to photograph, I'll try to get Avery to pose. In these instances, I tell him to "Say cheese!" and he eagerly obliges. After all, the kid has a steamy love affair with the stuff (cheese, not photography).
Things have gotten slightly out of control lately, though. When we're through with our posing photo session, I'll set my camera down, either on the kitchen table or desk. Next thing I know, my smarty-pants kid is picking it up, repeating "pitch-ah, pitch-ah, pitch-ah."
Cute, right?
Next comes him handing me back the camera, now repeating "cheese, cheese, cheese!" So I relent, taking yet MORE pictures of him, adding to the hundreds I've previously taken.
You'd think that would be the end, wouldn't you? Well, you'd be wrong.
You see, this is where my adorable little boy becomes a monster. He has to SEE every photo you take - especially if it's of him. He gets such joy out of seeing pictures of himself...even going so far as to kiss himself in some of the ones we have framed.
I'm hoping this is only a phase; that he'll grow out of this just like he WILL grow out of throwing his sippy cup at the cat, mashing buttons on our cell phones, and repeating every word he knows a zillion times (usually words like juice, apple, cracker, etc. And fortunately he stops eventually...most often when I finally give in and let him have what he wants.).
Anyway, until he finally decides he's seen enough pictures of himself, we'll have all sorts of photos like these littering our camera's memory card.
And honestly, there are much worse things to look at each day. Danged adorable monster that he is.
